How does it help to be worried?

It really doesn’t help to worry. The simple answer is “don’t do it.” In Matthew 6: 25-34, Jesus said:

Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t work. It just means you should trust God to provide. The Bible is full of examples along these lines. In Exodus Chapter 16, God railed down manna on the people of Israel. God provided. But they still had to go pick it up.

In Isaiah, the word says: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

In Joshua, the word say: “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

In Acts Chapter 27, Paul and other prisoners were being taken to Italy. Paul warned the centurion not to sail as planned. Paul’s counsel was ignored and the ship was tossed. When all hope seemed lost, Paul spoke to the men on the ship, saying:

And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship. For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee. Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

The lesson here is that all you need is God. He is the good father and will take care of his children. With Jesus by your side, “though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me.”
